The search committee has chosen Dr. Ann Marie Klotz as Radford’s new Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Klotz will start January 8, 2018, to push forward the process of the 17 Recommendations from the Inaugural Budget Planning Summit of last year.
Dr. Klotz will drive learning outside of the classroom, i.e., clubs and organizations while also enhancing student growth and development throughout Radford as a part of Student Affairs. She has been a consultant, coach, assistant, department head and speaker, “from Fortune 500 companies to top-tier institutions of higher education, Dr. Ann Marie Klotz serves her clients as an experienced speaker and consultant to strengthen organizations and help professionals achieve their goals,” as stated on her personal website.
Serving as a perseverant and creative problem solver she “identifies solutions that best meet the needs of her clients” and is “passionate about helping under-served students find personal and professional success through education. ”
Dr. Klotz shows that she can do not from what she says but what she does. Producing a handful of videos on YouTube of her talks/keynotes, showing up on podcasts, and discussing the importance of branding and social media in the professional world. Thinking out of the box seems to be the key to Dr. Klotz success.
Taking a few notes from the President of Radford University Dr. Brian Hemphill’s email, where he first addressed Dr. Klotz, we can see that she has done the work: “Dr. Ann Marie Klotz is an experienced advocate for student success. Her passion for working in student affairs is truly contagious and inspiring. She is extremely student-centered in alignment with President Hemphill’s vision for Radford. Dr. Klotz’s touch has reached over 21 plus universities and institutions around the United States and is steadily growing as she comes to Radford. Her education goes as far as receiving a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Masters in Women’s and Gender Studies at DePaul University. Plus, a Masters in Student Affairs Administration at Michigan State University and a Bachelors in Political Science and Women and Gender Studies at Grand Valley State University.
