The Journey

NSCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 on the campus of The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is a recognized organization at over 330 campuses across the country.

I joined The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at Radford University’s Chapter Oct. 2018 and became their Vice President of Social Media.

The website was initially created Feb. 2018; however, students and faculty rarely used or visited the site – it was way underused.

I decided it was time to take a crack at it and revitalizing the site. So, I began working on the website on April 18, 2020 and relaunched it on April 20, 2020.

The NSCS at Radford’s website features several pages, such as a Landing, About, Fundraising, Executive Board, Monthly Calendar, Contact, and some blog archives like NSCS News, Community Service, and The Honored Student Award.

The website was built using WordPress.com with the Twenty Seventeen WordPress theme, all at no cost.

The purpose of the site and its various sections are to:

  1. Educate students, professors, faculty, and administrators on what NSCS is and why students should achieve and join.
  2. Inform students, professors, faculty, and administrators on NSCS news, updates, community service and fundraisers students are participating in to support Radford University and the City of Radford.
  3. Showcase the work that the students of The NSCS at Radford University are doing for their community and their education.

Most of the photography and graphics I provide or made for the website.

The NSCS at Radford’s website was a great site to work on and relaunch. The site is sleek, beautiful, works on mobile, and, most importantly, easy to use.
