WHO READS BOOKS?

UPDATE 7/6/19

Hope you guys had a great 4th of July!

So, let’s get into it.

I have been reading a lot of books recently.

Now, I am by no means a lover of all things books and I don’t read every single day; however, I appreciate what I can learn from them that videos, podcasts, and films can’t tell me.

The Secret

So, today, I will share with you a little secret.

Whatever you may be into, or want to get into, someone probably has put in into a book … and you should buy and read that book today!

A great tip I learned from Ramit Sethi, author of I WILL TEACH YOU TO BE RICH, is that if you think you can learn a new piece of information from a book that will be useful in whatever you may do, BUY THAT BOOK.

Knowledge and its usefulness are priceless, so $15.95 should not stand in your way.

For me, I like to read the back of the book, the dust jacket (if applicable), the table of contents, and skim the chapters that appeal to me first. Then, after all that, I might just decide to read the book cover to cover, but I seem to always run out of time anyway.

That’s a fault on my part, but there was another great piece of advice I learned (forgot who the source was): It is unnecessary to read a textbook (or self-help book) front to back. There isn’t any knight slaying the evil dragon king to save the princess or no massive character ark that’s going to happen. It just ends with an index.

So, feel free to skim as much as you want. No need in wasting your time with information that is not useful to you, or information you already know.

Here is my recent list of books I’ve been reading:

  • I Will Teach You to Be Rich, Second Edition: No Guilt. No Excuses. No BS. Just a 6-Week Program That Works – By: Ramit Sethi
  • Understanding Stocks 2E – By: Michael Sincere
  • Make Time: How to Focus on What Matters Every Day – By: Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky
  • The Ultimate Freelancer’s Guidebook: Learn How to Land the Best Jobs, Build Your Brand, and Be Your Own Boss – By: Yuwanda Black

I like to keep these Friday Weekly Updates short and sweet, and so I hope you gained something from this!

Feel free to let me know what your reading by emailing me back or on Twitter @dylanslegos.

Best,
Dylan Lepore
